Protecting Your Family
Guard yourselves and your families from the Fire — spiritual care of one's household is a command, not a hobby.
Qur'anic Reference · At-Tahrim 66:6
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا قُوا أَنفُسَكُمْ وَأَهْلِيكُمْ نَارًا وَقُودُهَا النَّاسُ وَالْحِجَارَةُ
English Translation
“O you who believe! Protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones.”
Bengali Translation
“হে ঈমানদারগণ! তোমরা নিজেদের ও তোমাদের পরিবার-পরিজনকে সেই আগুন থেকে রক্ষা করো, যার ইন্ধন হবে মানুষ ও পাথর।”
The moral, reflection, and application sections below are educational guidance inspired by the cited verse — they are not a translation or an authoritative tafsir.
Primary Moral
You insure your family's food, schooling, and health — their hereafter deserves at least the same planning.
Why This Matters
Parents who would leap into traffic for a child often leave that child's faith to chance, outsourced to environment and algorithms. The verse widens a guardian's job description: providing for bodies while neglecting souls is protection of the smaller half.
Reflection
The order of the verse is instructive: 'yourselves' comes before 'your families' — a guardian's own practice is the household's first lesson, taught daily without words. Protection here is not policing but cultivating: prayer established warmly, the Qur'an made familiar, love and truth wound together so the home itself becomes a shelter from the Fire.
Real-Life Application
Install one household institution this month: a nightly ten-minute Qur'an circle, praying one salah together, or a weekly meal where faith is discussed naturally. Keep it small, warm, and unmissable — consistency teaches what lectures cannot.
Reflection Question
If your family's spiritual state stayed exactly as it is for twenty years, would you call your guardianship complete?
Action for Today
Gather your household for ten minutes tonight — one page of Qur'an, its meaning, and a du'a together.
