Guarding Against Distraction
Let neither wealth nor children divert you from the remembrance of Allah — even blessings can become blindfolds.
Qur'anic Reference · Al-Munafiqun 63:9
English Translation
“O you who believe! Let not your wealth and your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. And whoever does that — it is they who are the losers.”
Bengali Translation
“হে ঈমানদারগণ! তোমাদের ধন-সম্পদ ও সন্তান-সন্ততি যেন তোমাদের আল্লাহর স্মরণ থেকে গাফেল না করে। আর যারা এমন করে, তারাই তো ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত।”
The moral, reflection, and application sections below are educational guidance inspired by the cited verse — they are not a translation or an authoritative tafsir.
Primary Moral
Watch your best blessings most closely — the sweetest things divert the most quietly.
Why This Matters
The verse names not sins but treasures — wealth and children — because halal loves are the distractions no one suspects. A man rarely misses Fajr for gambling; he misses it for overtime, for the children's school run, for the phone that holds both. The loss it warns of is the only real one: losing Allah while gaining everything else.
Reflection
The Arabic tulhikum suggests being absorbed in play — a life so full of managing blessings that the Giver of them is forgotten. The remedy is not renouncing family or income but re-ordering them: wealth held in the hand, not the heart; children raised for Allah, not instead of Him. Loved rightly, the same blessings become paths of remembrance rather than walls against it.
Real-Life Application
Audit what most often makes you delay or rush prayer — work, family logistics, or the phone — and build one guardrail: prayer first, then the task; salah before scrolling. Involve your children in remembrance so they become reminders, not rivals, of it.
Reflection Question
Which blessing in your life currently gets the hours that remembrance of Allah is owed?
Action for Today
Pray your next prayer at its earliest time, letting one worldly task wait for Allah instead of the reverse.
