Patience

The quiet strength to hold on to what is right when everything urges you to let go — paired in the Qur'an with prayer as the believer's twin support.

Qur'anic Reference · Al-Baqarah 2:153

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَاةِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ

English Translation

“O you who believe! Seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.”

Bengali Translation

“হে ঈমানদারগণ! ধৈর্য ও সালাতের মাধ্যমে সাহায্য প্রার্থনা করো। নিশ্চয়ই আল্লাহ ধৈর্যশীলদের সঙ্গে আছেন।”

The moral, reflection, and application sections below are educational guidance inspired by the cited verse — they are not a translation or an authoritative tafsir.

Primary Moral

Meet hardship with patience and prayer, not panic and complaint.

Why This Matters

Every life passes through loss, delay, and difficulty; what differs is how we carry them. Patience keeps the heart from shattering under pressure, and the ayah promises something greater than relief: Allah's own companionship in the middle of the trial.

Reflection

Patience in the Qur'an is not passive endurance — it is an active turning toward Allah in the middle of difficulty. The ayah joins sabr with salah: when the heart is tightest, the believer does not withdraw from Allah but leans further into Him. The promise at the end is remarkable: not merely reward later, but companionship now — Allah is with the patient.

Real-Life Application

The next time frustration rises — in traffic, in an argument, in waiting for news — pause before reacting and take one slow breath with the words 'Allah is with the patient'. If the difficulty is heavy, pray two short rak'ahs; let prayer absorb what complaining cannot fix.

Reflection Question

Which recurring situation most quickly drains your patience — and what would 'seeking help through prayer' look like right there?

Action for Today

Choose one irritation you know is coming today and decide in advance to meet it silently, with a breath and bismillah.
